Observe how silence inherits the land, Where rivers forget what they once used to stand, A call unanswered dissolves into air, And absence becomes the rarest affair. Note the last footprints that soften in dust, The bones of a promise we bartered for trust, Each vanished species a lesson misread, A chapter concluded, yet never quite dead.
