" A Field Guide to Extinction " By Jacky Kapadia
In margins of maps where the ink has thinned,
We catalog ghosts that the world has rescinded—
Feather and fur in meticulous lines,
Names pressed like petals between passing times.
Observe how silence inherits the land,
Where rivers forget what they once used to stand,
A call unanswered dissolves into air,
And absence becomes the rarest affair.
Note the last footprints that soften in dust,
The bones of a promise we bartered for trust,
Each vanished species a lesson misread,
A chapter concluded, yet never quite dead.
So carry this guide not as record alone,
But warning inscribed in the marrow of stone—
For endings are written by hands still alive,
And futures are choices we choose to deprive.
