根據研究，IQOS 煙彈釋放的有害物質較傳統香菸減少 80% 至 90%，包括焦油。但這不意味著完全無害，TEREA仍含少許焦油及其他有害物質，如甲醛、乙醛等，這些物質對健康有潛在風險，長期吸入可能損害呼吸系統與心血管健康。
